FROM CANADIAN CAPITAL TO ASIA’S NEXT BIG OPPORTUNITIES: PHILIPPINE INVESTMENT MISSION TARGETS HIGH-VALUE INVESTMENTS AND GLOBAL PARTNERSHIPS

ACGlobal joins APECO and Philippine diplomatic and trade partners for Montreal, Ottawa and Calgary investment engagements, advancing the global launch of WHY INVEST IN THE PHILIPPINES? CREATE MORE Edition.

MONTREAL, CANADA — November 2, 2026 — Building on successful investment promotion and book launch engagements in Toronto and Los Angeles, the Asian Consulting Group (ACGlobal) is advancing its North American Investment Mission to Montreal, Ottawa and Calgary, connecting Canadian investors with emerging opportunities in the Philippines and across Southeast Asia.

The Canadian investment engagements are being undertaken in collaboration with the Philippine Embassy in Canada, Philippine Consulate General in Calgary, Philippine Trade and Investment Center (PTIC) in Toronto, and Aurora Pacific Economic Zone and Freeport Authority (APECO), with the participation of ACGlobal, represented by its founder, global tax policy expert and Chief Tax Advisor, Mon Abrea, CPA, MBA, MPA (Harvard).

The mission seeks to translate stronger bilateral economic ties into concrete investments, technology partnerships, resilient supply chains, high-value industries and quality employment.

A growing strategic partnership backed by economic data

Canada and the Philippines are strengthening their economic relationship at a critical time for global investment diversification.

According to Global Affairs Canada, bilateral merchandise trade reached C$3.4 billion in 2025, while Canada’s stock of direct investment in the Philippines reached approximately C$1.7 billion.

The two countries elevated their relationship through a new Strategic Partnership announced in July 2026, with a shared ambition to deepen cooperation in trade, energy, natural resources and other strategic industries.

Negotiations toward a Canada–Philippines Free Trade Agreement, alongside a broader Canada–ASEAN agreement, could further strengthen investment predictability, market access and supply-chain integration.

Meanwhile, the Philippine Statistics Authority reported ₱115.20 billion in approved foreign investments in the second quarter of 2026, up 68.2% year-on-year, demonstrating continuing investor interest despite global economic uncertainties.

“CANADA HAS THE CAPITAL, TECHNOLOGY AND GLOBAL REACH. THE PHILIPPINES HAS THE TALENT, STRATEGIC LOCATION AND EMERGING INVESTMENT OPPORTUNITIES. OUR MISSION IS TO TURN THAT COMPLEMENTARITY INTO REAL INVESTMENTS, QUALITY JOBS AND SHARED PROSPERITY,” Abrea said.

Turning investment incentives into competitive advantages

Central to the mission is the CREATE MORE Act (Republic Act No. 12066), which enhances the Philippines’ investment incentive framework and offers qualifying enterprises a more competitive environment for long-term expansion.

Depending on project eligibility and registration, incentives include income tax holidays, a 5% special corporate income tax regime for registered export enterprises, a reduced 20% corporate income tax rate under the enhanced deductions regime, and applicable VAT and customs duty incentives.

Through APECO, investors are also being introduced to opportunities within its 12,923-hectare Pacific-facing economic zone in Aurora, particularly in clean energy, data centers, advanced manufacturing, infrastructure, logistics and other strategic industries.

The mission’s investment briefings in Montreal and Calgary are expected to engage business executives, institutional stakeholders and prospective investors across multiple sectors.

Beyond investment promotion, ACGlobal is advocating stronger policy certainty, simplified regulatory processes, more efficient VAT refunds, transparent fiscal incentives and good governance to improve the Philippines’ long-term investment competitiveness.

“INVESTORS DO NOT INVEST IN SLOGANS. THEY INVEST IN PREDICTABLE POLICIES, CREDIBLE INSTITUTIONS, COMPETITIVE INDUSTRIES AND PROJECTS THAT DELIVER RETURNS.”

“CREATE MORE is an important step. But the ultimate measure of reform is whether we can convert investment commitments into operating businesses, sustainable industries and better-paying jobs for Filipinos,” Abrea emphasized.

Bringing the Philippine investment story to the world

The mission also advances the international launch of WHY INVEST IN THE PHILIPPINES? CREATE MORE Edition, an investment guide highlighting the country’s evolving tax and investment policies, sector opportunities, fiscal incentives and pathways for foreign investors entering and expanding in the Philippine market.

Following its successful launches in Toronto and Los Angeles, the book’s international promotion continues through Montreal, Ottawa and Calgary, with further engagements encompassing New York and Washington, D.C., followed by the European mission starting in Madrid, Paris, Stockholm and Warsaw.

The global initiative is designed not merely to promote the Philippines, but to develop sustained relationships among foreign investors, Philippine investment promotion agencies, financial institutions and private enterprises.

Its priorities include identifying investment-ready projects, facilitating strategic introductions, supporting cross-border market entry and advancing partnerships capable of generating measurable economic impact.

From a strong Filipino community to shared economic prosperity

With more than one million Filipino Canadians contributing to Canada’s economy and society, the mission also seeks to transform longstanding people-to-people connections into deeper business and investment partnerships.

“FILIPINOS HAVE HELPED BUILD CANADA’S ECONOMY. NOW, WE HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO BUILD SOMETHING BIGGER TOGETHER—CONNECTING CANADIAN CAPITAL, FILIPINO TALENT AND ASIA’S NEXT GENERATION OF GROWTH INDUSTRIES,” Abrea added.

ACGlobal expressed its appreciation to the Philippine Embassy in Canada, the Philippine Consulate General in Calgary, PTIC Toronto and APECO for their commitment and collaboration in advancing Philippine investment promotion.

The mission reinforces a broader vision: to position the Philippines not simply as an investment destination, but as a strategic partner in globally connected, sustainable and inclusive economic growth.

“Our goal is simple: bring more investments to the Philippines, build stronger industries, create better jobs and deliver shared prosperity.”
