At its annual Board of Directors’ meeting held on Monday, October 7, at the Asian Consulting Group (ACG) Tax Hub, Quezon City, Jose Magsaysay, Jr. was elected as the new President succeeding its founder – the country’s most sought-after tax expert – the Philippine Tax Whiz and Celebrity Accountant Mon Abrea.

The newly-elected President, Jose Magsasysay, Jr., is the multi-awarded entrepreneur and business mentor behind the billion-peso franchise giant Potato Corner. He has the drive and aggressiveness necessary to make ACG the Philippine’s first Tax Hub for SMEs in the Asia-Pacific.

“I don’t invest in a kind of business. I invest in people,” said ACG’s recently-elected President on why he invested in ACG, “and I could see that passion in Mon.”

Recently, Jose Magsaysay, Jr. has been in charge of ACG’s operations during the US roadshow of its outgoing President Mon Abrea.

“I have known JoMag for around five years. He is an enterprising businessman, an effective leader, and he has an admirable work ethic,” said Abrea. “I trust him to lead ACG toward its mission and vision.”

Mon Abrea will continue to be part of the Board as its Chairman and Chief Executive Officer.  He will work closely with the new Vice President James Reid on ACG’s digital transformation programs particularly the soon-to-be-launched TaxWhizPH Mobile app and Youtube channel.

Outside show business, James Reid is a serial entrepreneur having built three companies to help local artists bring their music internationally: Careless ProductionsIsland City Music Philippines, and Reid Entertainment, Inc.

As the Vice President, Reid will be taking a lead role in using technology and digital platforms to help taxpayers pay the right taxes whenever, wherever.

According to Reid, the TaxWhizPH Mobile App is one of the reasons he joined ACG. These two innovations – the Mobile app and the Youtube Channel – are only a few projects under the digital transformation planned by ACG which is scheduled to be launched on December 13 at the Google HQ in Singapore.

The Asian Consulting Group continues to work toward its vision of establishing the Philippines’ first Tax Hub for SMEs in the Asia-Pacific. Already in 2019, ACG has launched satellite offices in Vigan, Laguna, Albay, Palawan, and Bacolod.
