ACG Founding Chairman Reappointed as EODB Taskforce Co-Chair

ACG Founding Chairman Mon Abrea continues his stint as the Co-Chair for the Ease of Doing Business Taskforce – Paying Taxes. The Philippine Tax Whiz was re-appointed after his service in the same role last year.

The Department of Trade and Industry established the Ease of Doing Business Taskforce to combat the Philippines’ dropping rank in the World Bank’s Doing Business report. The Taskforce will work hand-in-hand with the recently-established Anti-Red Tape Authority to ease registration and compliance processes.

The Asian Consulting Group will be hosting the Committee Meeting of the EODB Taskforce – Paying Taxes on September 6, Friday.

In his role, the Philippine Tax Whiz proposes reforms to make the payment of taxes easier.  According to him, a genuine tax reform means not just tax policy reform but also tax administrative reform. An easier time paying taxes means more people can understand the tax regulations and comply accordingly.

Beyond tax administrative reforms and tax policy reforms, educating taxpayers also plays a crucial role. There is little point to reforming the system if taxpayers remain ignorant of the laws.

For more than ten years, the Philippine Tax Whiz has advocated tax education and reform.

Established in line with this advocacy, the Asian Consulting Group is a social enterprise that promotes the same.

With a focus on tax education, ACG has launched the Tax Hub Talks, regular seminars covering a variety of topics. While the topic mostly covers tax-related discussions, the Tax Hub Talks also features business-related issues.

ACG has also launched the Tax Hub Talks at its satellite offices in Vigan, Laguna, Albay, Bacolod, and Puerto Princesa.

Later in the month, ACG will hold the Tax Hub Talks at its main office in The Ignacia Place, Quezon City. The topic will be Digital Transformation & Blockchain Technology.
